Calmare Pain Mitigation Therapy (CPMT) is an electro cutaneous treatment that treats chronic Neuropathic pain through a Neuromodulation approach by delivering non-painful electrical pulses along C-fibers to the Central Nervous System. This involves placing surface electrodes along the corresponding dermatomes which intercede with the same nerve or nerves that are conveying the recurring, painful signals. The sensory information which is presented in a pseudo-endogenous waveform is perceived as self- regulating and through repetition and the process of Neuroplasticity, we see evidence of the brains ability to reorganize, retrain and return to homeostasis, hence a cumulative cessation of chronic Neuropathic pain.
The Calmare Therapy Device has 5 independent channels. The machine generates a proprietary electrical signal on each channel. Maximum output from each channel is 5.5 milliamps (MA). Some patients may feel a slight tingling. Every channel has a cable or “lead.” Every lead has 2 snap connectors that attach to an electrode pad . One connector will be black, the other will be white, yellow, blue, green or red. They are not positive or negative, but take turns going from signal to ground. Calmare Therapeutics Electrode pads are single patient, multiple use and come in three sizes: UltraStim Snap 2x2 inch square, UltraStim Snap 2x4 inch rectangle, and LittlePals Snap 0.9 x1.1 inch oval.
